About me
I am a fully qualified BACP Accredited and Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am also a BABCP Accredited CBT Psychotherapist. I practise Counselling and Psychotherapy near Uckfield in East Sussex. I offer both short-term cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which works well with more specific difficulties and longer-term ongoing psychotherapy in my Counselling and Psychotherapy practice in Uckfield, East Sussex.
I have been practising as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience as an Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and over 15 years experience as a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
In 2001 my family and I moved to Uganda and then 8 years later to Kenya where we were based for a further 5 years. I gained in-depth experiences of working amongst diverse cultures within doctor's surgeries, African organisations and private practice. This has led me to working compassionately with 'difference' and gaining a deeper understanding of people and the uniqueness that they bring to therapy sessions.
I currently am working part-time in my own private Counselling and Psychotherapy practice near Uckfield and I am registered with Bupa, AXA, Aviva, Nuffield Healthcare, Onebright, Medcare as well as and Its Good To Talk, BACP. I am also a part-time student at Metanoia Institute, London on a doctoral programme for psychotherapy by professional works. I am on my 4th year. The title of my research project is: 'On developing a culturally-adapted CBT model: a qualitative investigation on the experiences of Kenyan counsellors using the CBT 5 aspects model with their clients'. The research will be conducted in Kenya.
I have worked part-time as a CBT Psychotherapist for the NHS working initially in secondary care for 3 years in the Eastbourne Assessment and Treatment Service and then in primary care in East Sussex giving me further experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
I have also worked for ChildLine and The Samaritans (1996) and gained a diploma in child psychology giving me sufficient understanding when working with children. I feel passionate about the work I do and I look forward to welcoming you to therapy.
